AN
INTRODUCTION TO RECORDS MANAGEMENT
Aims:
This course
aims to provide participants with a broad introduction to
the core principles and requirements of managing records within
an organisation. The course is based on concepts from AS ISO
15489, together with practical records management standards
and guidelines. By attending this course, participants will
be able to appropriately choose other courses which focus
on specific aspects covered in this overview training.
Outcomes:
By the
end of this training session, participants will be able to:
- Outline
and discuss the concepts of records and records management.
- Identify
problems and risks associated with poor records management
practices.
- Broadly
describe the regulatory requirements associated with keeping
records.
- Identify
agency (business) requirements for keeping records.
- Identify
and have exposure to the use of records management control
tools and practices such as thesauri, disposal authorities,
registers, storage systems, etc.
- Identify
and discuss resources required and allocation of responsibilities
for recordkeeping within an organisation.
Participants
are provided with a course booklet and additional handouts.
