COMPILING
A RECORDS RETENTION AND DISPOSAL AUTHORITY
Aims:
This course
will provide participants with the background knowledge and
skills required to confidently compile and implement a records
retention and disposal authority within an organisation. Participants
will be given several opportunities throughout the course
to apply the knowledge gained via useful and practical activities
and exercises.
Outcomes:
By the
end of this training session, participants will be able to:
- Identify
the components of a retention and disposal authority.
- Define
and understand the concept of 'appraisal'.
- Outline
the benefits associated with using and implementing a retention
and disposal authority.
- Identify
the recordkeeping legislative framework.
- Identify
the methodology used to compile a Functional Records Retention
and Disposal Authority and be able to;
- Analyse
the functions of an organisation;
- Identify
and formulate record classes;
- Determine
retention periods and disposal actions.
- Implement
a records retention and disposal authority within an organisation.
- Outline
steps involved in reviewing an organisation's retention
and disposal authority.
