Lynne Real has been actively involved in the field of records and information management since 1992. Prior to commencing her records management career, Lynne was responsible for the administration of a small business. As part of her degree in Information Science, Ms Real undertook the Records Management elective, which covered all aspects of recordkeeping from the point of creation to disposal.

Her specific records management experience includes the previous appointment as Records Manager with the Department of Training & Education Co-ordination. During this time, and in her previous position with the former Department of Industrial Relations, Employment, Training and Further Education, she was responsible for:

  • charting the flow of information within the office of the Minister for Education
  • observing work practices and liaising with staff to assess needs
  • establishing correspondence and general records management procedures and systems
  • evaluating and implementing records management software (as Project Leader for the Records Management Evaluation Committee)
  • implementing records disposal programs and liaising with the NSW Archives Authority (now State Records)
    implementation and maintenance of a departmental thesaurus and procedures manual

Ms Real undertook a major in Computer Information Technology, as part of the Bachelor of Applied Science degree, and has been able to apply many of the skills learned in her studies to practical information management solutions.
